Tour De Mission 2020

In July 2020, amid some restrictions due to Covid-19, the first ever Tour de Mission took place. Over 40 riders, some of whom had barely ridden more than a mile of two, set off on a 42 mile journey through the scenic Lancashire countryside. Starting from Bolton they headed north towards Preston and were welcomed at Madani Institute (M A Mission Preston) by a crowd that encouraged them and cheered them on. Boosted by this support, they cycled east toward Blackburn. Upon arriving at M A Mission Blackburn, they were greeted by a party atmosphere where families were enjoying a range of activities including a penalty shoot-out, face painting and a delicious barbeque. The committee at Blackburn Mission also gifted each rider with a beautiful rose as a token of their appreciation for their efforts. The final leg involved cycling through the picturesque yet very hilly countryside back to Bolton. This was by far the toughest part of the challenge, with many riders not used to the elevation. By the grace of Allah, all the riders arrived at Bolton Mission and were greeted to a heroes welcome.

The entire event was streamed online and a variety of different presenters took to the screen to encourage viewers to donate towards the cause. The riders were able to raise over £20,000, which was shared equally across the 3 branches in the northwest.

There are several videos on our YouTube Channel that showcase the different elements of the ride, as well as what the money was going to be used for. Check them out. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7bpVhdqoJpWNGS41NgxclQ
