Upon many requests from the younger generation, we decided that a kids event should be organised! Not only would it allow them to take part in a worthy cause and give back to the community, it would also encourage them to take part in more physical exercise and start to live a healthier lifestyle.
The devasting earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria in 2023 prompted the organisers to raise money for the victims and offer longer term support. The Kids event was held at a local athletics track, where the younger children could take part in the different activities in relative safety. A group of older riders completed a 10 mile ride around Bolton closely supervised by a group of adult volunteers.

The event was a huge success and a total of £26,000 was raised to help the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. In December 2023, two volunteers in partnership with Muslim Charity travelled to Sanliurfa in south-eastern Turkey to distribute the aid to those adversely affected by the earhquake. We are very grateful to Muslim Charity for their support and invaluable advice in arranging this trip to Turkey.

As part of the aid package, 50 bikes were donated to orphans and refugees in Sanliurfa. An impromptu Tour de Mission Turkiye was organised and prizes were given to those that won their respective races. All the children and parents had a lot of fun and it brought much needed respite amidst the daily realities they have to endure. We pray that the Almighty eases their suffering and hardship.
